I was down at Spearhead Trails in SW Virginia over the weekend. We rode Coal Canyon and Ridgeview trails and stayed at Southern Gap Outdoor Adventures. Super nice people there with excellent facilities. I highly recommend it. We did some great riding. Spearhead isn’t nearly as crowded as Hatfield. The KRX was amazing. I rode with two RZR1000’s, a RZR900 and a couple quads. We did about 200 miles.

How "utv friendly" are the local constabularies around these trails? I have been to HMT several times and part of the attraction is the ability to ride the machines from trailhead to trailhead on the paved roads so I was wondering if SW VA is equally friendly to seeing our machines on the road.

Pretty friendly. They have a bunch of areas on the roads with signs that say “ATV ROUTE”. They are pretty well marked and allow you down into the towns easily. They mark it well where you can’t go too. We passed several police. No issues. There are only a couple rangers for the trails too. It’s mainly one old guy, sometimes two that ride around on an old polaris ranger. Talking to the locals and the property owner where we stayed, he really only cares that you have a helmet while you are riding with the trail pass visible on it, that you pick up all your trash, and that you aren’t being an A-hole. They said he only ever gives tickets for no helmets. He drove past us at a beer stop and we all showed our passes and he went on his way.

LOL. The KRX makes the 900 look like a child's toy. Don't realize just how big this machine is until you put it next to something like that.
It really does. Lol. The suspension on that 900 is garbage too. He was getting beat up all weekend. He did have a big advantage on the tight switchbacks coming down the mountain though. I had to make some sketchy three and four point turns to make the turn down a few times. He went right around them.

Can't have everything... I'll take a few sketchy turns every now and then with great suspension vs a few easy turns and harsh suspension all day, every day!
