Supertramp and I were talking about how to get plated in ohio. We discovered our 2 titles are different and they were titled just over a month apart. Here are the pics. His says offroad use only and body typr AT. Mine says nothing about offroad use and it says body type UV. We’d love to know what other people’s Ohio titles say. Thanks in advance.

Mine is UV. The other KRX I know of from State 8 is also UV.

I think the UV definition is incorrect, technically, per Ohio statutes.

Ohio Code restricts "utility vehicles" more than "all purpose vehicles" per code 4511.214.

I wonder why the two titles would be different. Dealer inputs in the computer system maybe?

My guess...different title offices with different people who aren't all on the same page. Not everyone understands all the makes and models of the machines on the market.

From what I've been hearing it comes down the the title office you hit. Some are doing it still and others are telling folks they have been told not to change anymore titles. You do have to have the original title in hand, They can't make changes with a memorandum title.

I've heard about this... My friend's son did it BUT what do you say if they ask why you're changing the body style? I can never get a straight answer. That guy didn't give a reason either... I would almost bet they ask why it needs changed

I’d just say you need to be able to register it as a utility vehicle.

But then it would conflict with what he said. Him and my friend said to change it unconventional vehicle... But neither said to why. Leave it to J&J cycles... Gouge me on price and screw me on title lol.. state 8 probably does that so people can plate without loopholes. J&J you're just a dollar bill. I'll try it after work today but would still need to know why I would tell them UV

Welp... went to wadsworth title bureau and they switched the body style no questions asked. But the wadsworth licenses bureau wouldnt give me plates without and inspection paper... went to barberton which is ran by all young kids so i got a plate... street legal in ohio now

Awesome! I was riding down State Rd in Cuyahoga Falls yesterday to pick up pizza. I passed one cop opposite direction and 2 more sitting in a parking lot. They didn’t even give me a second look. I’m told there are at least 2 other UTV’s people have seen plated up around there though so maybe they are used to it already.

I see a couple riding around Norton as well. I bet that felt weird going down state rd to get a pie in a sxs lol

Norton cops are pricks around here.... I am sure I will get pulled over so its not hitting the road till I get mirrors and turn signals.. Not worried about a windshield as long as I have safety glasses or goggles I will be good. In theory I could use hand signals but not risking it.

I printed out these sub sections from the Ohio Revised Code and keep with my registration and insurance. I mean sure, technically I omitted some paragraphs about inspections but I’m betting the average officer isn’t looking all that up.
