I think one of the SuperATV a arms broke..
Damn that’s a bummer I think he was running the SuperATV billet a arms too. I watched like 10 plus hours of the utv race but only saw when he took off and then they did a fly over and saw him stopped early on. I’m surprised they didn’t try to replace it, it was within the first 25 miles I believe. He got all the way up to 7th last year before breaking a spindle I believe. His co driver ran back rob parts from the pre runner came back fixed it and still finished 29th. Pretty impressive considering what he’s racing against some of the can ams and Polaris can break 100 and his with the 35s could only do 74. Not sure if they were able to get that top speed up this year any. Kind of assume so since GSR Racing said he was running his clutches and he was getting 83 to 86 with I believe smaller tires.

Billet a arms? Pretty sure they don’t make any. I’ve seen radius rods but not a arms.
The SuperATV a arm breaking has been the general speculative theory floating around. It would be nice if we could see some first hand pics of what went wrong.

Somebody was giving me crap about it earlier. Not sure what really happened. He's calling tomorrow to fill us in on what went down. Arms don't just fart out. We all kinda know that. Especially big aftermarket stuff. I'll fill in whenever I hear back.
Awesome!! Get us some pics of you can.. I just can’t quite figure what would have happened to be bad enough you don’t try to patch it back.

Kawasaki Teryx KRX 1000 High Clearance Billet Aluminum Radius Arms
that’s the name of them on super atv site. I’m pretty sure those are the ones he was running. I would think it would take quite a bit to break them but the course was pretty brutal from what I could see and the announcers said.

Brute performance sells KRX A-ARM FRAME TAB SUPPORT GUSSET KIT help prevent the a arms from ripping out of the front frame tabs guess it’s a known issue with the krx I’m wandering if it had something to do with that. They have a few pics of machines that crashed and ripped the whole back side of the a arm right out

not a pic of a crashed one but shows the tabs bent

Radius rods are on the back of the machine not the front..

Losing a tie rod rock crawling is usually pretty fixable. Losing one at 50 or 60 mph in a g out is a whole different ballgame. The collateral damage can be pretty extensive. That'd be my guess as to why they weren't able to patch it up.

I watched the KOTH live feed and my only real takaway from watching McGrath leave the line after a bunch of turbo cars was “damn that thing looks like a turd”. That car really needs a turbo to compete. Even the Hondas were running turbos

Yeah it’s definitely no speed demon, But wasn’t really made to be a 100 mph machine, really shines on the rocks, says a lot that he was all the way up the 7th place last year with like 10 to 20 miles to go. There was almost 150 utv’s last year

I got ya unfortunately I wasn't ever taught to turn wrenches. If my parents had a problem they took it somewhere to get fixed. I don’t think he was going that fast I’m pretty sure it happened in cougar butes but not 100%. Hard telling tho not being a front runner he didn't get much coverage
