Guys - I rode both trails the last couple days and they were great. Cabway trails are a little tight and a lot of branches but not too bad. Very tight switchbacks made it fun. Lots of twists, turns, hills and SMOOTH as butter. Hard to get much speed since it is so tight but there are some areas to open it up. Ivy branch is more steep, intense, scenic and the trails are wider. I've ridden all the HMT trails (mostly) I go there a few times every year. These were great and I ran into only about 5 people on both days combined. (riding memorial day and today)

There are (3) nice campgrounds on Cabway but primitive. Wife wasnt having any of that... (me either I need a hot shower)
I've been to Cabwaylingo twice. You can rent a cabin or stay at one of the two campgrounds in the state forest. Spruce Creek campground has 6 campsites with water & electric. The rest of the sites are primitive. It has a shower house with restrooms & a dump station. Campsites are only 30 amp. The water & electric sites are rated up to a 30' long RV. The other campground is Tick Ridge. It is primitive only. The cabins are nice. Most were built in the 30's. All the Cabins & Campgrounds have direct access to the trail system. You can get a 15% discount on cabins with a 2021 Hatfield McCoy trail use permit. If you sign up for West Virginia state forest emails. They send specials out for cabins. I've received emails of up to 30% off cabins. None of the discounts work on the campground sites.
