I thought that the parking brake on my brand new '21 KRX was a little loose, so I adjusted it by tightening the nut/bolt combination in the rear where the cable attaches to the brake. Is this the best way to tighten it?

I think I also read somewhere that you can tighten in the cab at the handle, but I didn't want to take the front console apart for the third time in about a week, so I went with tightening it in the back at the wheels.

Is there a preferred way do this? I didn't see anything in the service manual, but I may not have looked hard enough.

Check sections 2-45 and 2-46 or pages 69 and 70 of the service manual if you have one. If you do not have the service manual it has been shared on this forum.

@UTV Bum Thanks for that--that's what I was looking for. The procedure outlined there is exactly what I did, but I must say, if I had left the cable with the length they prescribe (1.7 inches), it would be so loose as to be almost useless. I had to tighten it almost all the way, and even then I still get several clicks to make the brake tight. Before I tightened it, the brake handle was almost vertical before it was tight.

The cable is probably stretched. Did you happen to pull it all the way vertically since new? This will certainly over stretch it and cause loss of pad grip.
