The dealers are notorious for pencil whipping the PDI.. The steering and alignment is usually out on just about everyone of them!
I pitched a big fit about the alignment when I picked up my machine a month or so ago.
I did a quick walk around and was like "oh hey, looks like the toe's out on the passenger front. Can you guys do an alignment real quick?"
The a$$hole sales guy who supposedly did the PDI was like "oh no, that's the camber, talk to the service guys blah blah blah". The dude completely told me to stick it.
I went back to the service department, asked for the manager, gave a brief explanation of camber/caster/toe/square and told him the toe's out and it needs to be fixed NOW. The service guys all looked at one another and were like "oh,
* (a-hole sales guy) must have done that one, grumble grumble..."
Service manager was cool and had a dude grab it and swing it around back. Pulled it back out front and lo and behold, toe appeared normal (I measured later they were in spec). So good on them and we're cool.
Honestly, I can't believe they're leaving the PDI to sales people who can't even tell if one tires toed out 45 degrees to the other.
Side note: the sales guy has been bad enough that I just refuse to talk with him. That guy has blown me off several times. This will be the first time that I fill out one of those post-purchase surveys.
